My blu-ray player won't play the disk?

I bought a new blu ray dvd today, and tried to play it in my blu ray player. It will play the piracy add and the commentary warnings, but they it won't load anything else, it just sits on a blank screen. I have tried software updates and cleaning the player, but it still won't play. Does anyone know what's wrong with it?
