Why do people get done for piracy?

The downloaders (or more likely heavy uploaders) are made as examples. They are the unlucky few of the millions of others like them. The reason the websites don't get taken down is because they are walking a fine line: They do not host any illegal content, they only provide data on how to get it, and their local laws and regulations defend this. Nobody blocks this because nobody wants to start sliding down the slippery slope of closing off areas of the internet. Plus torrents are practically unstoppable with peer-to-peer sharing anyways, so trying to block the sites would do nothing but add slight delays and proxies. End result, yeah its unfortunate when a downloader gets arrested and this isn't fair, but is this going to change: no.
